A Letter to the Marketplace Men
19 November 2007
Are You Ready to Catch Big Fish?
Most men are logic-centric being, taught in the scientific reasoning system that only accept logical answers. However, Jesus' teaching was revolving around faith and obedience which cause many christian men failed to experience the 'big catch" Simon Peter encountered today.
Hebrew 11:6 says "..without faith it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God.." Thus our victory is in His hands if we find favours in Him through our faith walk. The real challenge many christian men overlooked today is: "Is you net big enough to contain His blessing when it comes?"
Don't complain when there seems no activity in your life, enjoy the rest and strengthen your net for the big catch - God will not sink your ship when you are not ready for the blessing.

Faith Under Fire Seminar by Ps Benny Ho @ GRACE Assembly of God Singapore
tied.
These unanswered interrogations create more questions and nagging, and spirit-destoying doubt. Some choose to live with the doubts, ignoring them and moving on with life. Others become cynical and hardened. But many reject those options and continue to ask, looking for answers.
In the Bible, Habakkuk was a man who sought answers.. He struggles with the common questions like:
Why do the wicked prosper and the innocent suffer so terribly?
Is God really in control of today's world events?
How do we reconcile the tragedies of life with our knowledge of a loving God?
How should we respond when we do not understand the actions of God?
What should we do when our faith comes under fire?
Come join us and discover how we can live victoriously even when our Faith comes under fire. Please note that we have limited seats for this teaching, encourage your friends to join us and Register Early!

Truth about YOGA - Beware
The patron goddess of Yoga is Kundalini the Hindu snake goddess. Yoga led Laurette Willis into a New Age lifestyle. Now she's warning others of the spiritual pitfalls.
The attractive couple on the television screen gracefully moved their bodies into the next yoga pose: arms extended, head tilted slightly back, a deep breath in. In front of the TV set, a seven-year-old girl and her mother did their best to mimic the posture. The little girl, Laurette, loved this special time with her mom.
It was 1965, and Laurette's mom, Jacquie, didn't think twice about exercising along with this yoga program that came on the TV after Jack La Lanne. She developed a passion for yoga, and began instructing free classes in her home. Laurette served as the demonstration model for her mom. The young girl relished the attention-and her family never suspected this seemingly innocent exercise would open the door to a New Age lifestyle that would affect Laurette for the next 22 years.
Speaking Out
Now 46, Christian speaker/author Laurette Willis tells everyone she meets about the dangers of yoga. The Oklahoma resident addresses groups across the country, speaking from personal experience and her knowledge as a certified personal trainer and aerobics instructor.
So what caused Laurette to become vocal about yoga? And is yoga really all that bad? Her testimony is a bold answer to both questions.
Throughout her childhood, Laurette's family regularly attended church. 'If someone had asked us, we would have said we were Christians,' she says. 'But we never heard the message of salvation at our church.' Lacking knowledge about the Christian faith, Laurette's mom found herself drawn to New Age practices, and began reading books by Nostradamus and Edgar Cayce (both claimed to have psychic abilities) and taking Laurette to an ashram, a Hindu yoga retreat. As an adult, Laurette immersed herself in every New Age and metaphysical practice she came across: chanting, crystals, tarot cards, psychics, channeling spirits.
'I tried everything-Kabbalah, Universalism, Taoism, Zoroastrianism - because I was spiritually hungry,' Laurette says. 'I call the New Age movement 'Burger King' because it's like the fast-food restaurant's motto: 'Have it your way.' That's what the New Age movement tries to do, to achieve God on its terms.'
There was one thing Laurette wasn't remotely interested in pursuing: Christianity. 'I thought Christians just wanted to give me a bunch of rules and dogma,' she says. 'I didn't know they were speaking about a relationship with Jesus.'
But in Laurette's quest to find herself, she only found a deepening sense of loneliness. 'God will use whatever it takes to bring you to your knees,' she says. 'I'd made a mess of my life. I was an alcoholic. I'd been promiscuous. I tried every form of religion, never coming to any knowledge of the truth.'
One day in 1987, a thought popped into Laurette's head: What if everything I thought about God was completely wrong? Two days later, she fell to her knees. 'I didn't know anything about the Bible or Jesus. I just cried out to God from the depths of my soul, 'I give up! You win! If you can do something with my life, you can have it.' 'As Laurette asked God to take control of her life, she felt a physical weight lift from her body.
'I learned much later that the weight was sin,' she says. 'I hadn't realized sin was real. New Agers think the word 'sin' is an acronym for 'self-inflicted nonsense.' That's the deception of the Enemy, because if there's no sin, then you don't need a Savior.' She remembers the change at the moment she accepted Christ: 'I felt peace descend upon me for the first time in my life.'
After giving her life to God, Laurette began devouring the Bible. She burned her New Age books and disengaged from everything associated with her turbulent past - including yoga.
The Problem with Yoga
The physical benefits for which yoga is often touted: improved flexibility, weight loss, reduced stress, and improved circulation, to name a few.
The goal of all yoga, Laurette explains, is to obtain oneness with the universe. That's also known as the process of enlightenment, or union with Brahman (Hinduism's highest god). The word 'yoga' means 'union' or 'to yoke.'
'Yoga wants to get students to the point of complete numbness in their minds. God, on the other hand, wants you to be transformed by the renewing of your mind through his Word,' Laurette says. Before she became a Christian, Laurette used subliminal tapes to train her mind to empty itself. These tapes are often used in yoga classes, she says. She also taught yoga classes and instructed her students in astral projection, or 'stepping outside' of the body, which Laurette says poses a serious spiritual danger.
'If there's nothing in your mind, you're open to all kinds of deception. After coming to Christ, I wondered who-or what-came into my body when I 'stepped out.' While I don't believe Christians can become possessed, I do believe we can become oppressed by demonic spirits of fear, depression, lust, false religion, etc. These are all things designed to draw us away from Jesus Christ.'
But what about hatha yoga, the less overtly spiritual form of yoga taught at most gyms? Even in this format, Laurette says there are commonly used words and poses antithetical to God's Word. For example, the word 'namaste,' often said at the close of yoga classes, means, 'I bow to the god within you.' The sound 'om,' chanted in many yoga classes, is meant to bring students into a trance so they can join with the universal mind. And the 'salute to the sun' posture, used at the beginning of most classes, pays homage to the Hindu sun god. Laurette believes it's impossible to extract Hindu spiritualism from yoga-and she's gotten a bit of confirmation on this from an unlikely source: 'I received an e-mail from a staff memberof the Classical Yoga Hindu Academy in New Jersey . The staff member wrote, 'Yes, all of yoga is Hinduism. Everyone should be aware of this fact.' This staff member included that she didn't appreciate my 'running down the great Hindu/Yogic religion,'' Laurette says.
Her statements about yoga have also drawn criticism from some Christians. Some accuse Laurette of being judgmental. Others say her fears about yoga are irrational. She doesn't back down from her stance on yoga. When she speaks with Christians who practice yoga, she encourages them to pay close attention to any hesitation they feel-and then to check out the facts for themselves.
Numerous Christian women have told Laurette they decided to quit yoga after learning about its Hindu roots. It's a hard decision for those who've invested many years and many dollars into the practice. Laurette says, 'I tell people that if their reasoning is, 'But I've already paid for these yoga classes,' or 'But I just bought these cool yoga pants and a yoga DVD,' to ask themselves: Am I willing to give these things up to know the truth?'
Proceed with Caution
There's a new practice popping up at churches and fitness clubs around the country. Dubbed 'Christian yoga' or 'yoga for Christians,' these programs supposedly offer the physical benefits of yoga along with Christian spirituality. But is it really possible for yoga to be transformed into a practice for Christians?
Doug Groothuis, author of Confronting the New Age and a professor of philosophy at Denver Seminary, says proponents of 'Christian yoga' are misled-and are misleading others. ''Christian yoga' is an oxymoron. Yoga is rooted in Hinduism and cannot be separated from it,' he says. 'There's nothing wrong with stretching and calming down one's breathing. But yoga isn't really about that; it's aimed at transforming human consciousness to experience the Hindu god, which is a false god.'
TCW found several 'Christian yoga' instructors who are affiliated with secular yoga organizations that have a Hindu or New Age bent.
When investigating a Christian yoga class, be on the lookout for:
- Sanskrit language. Many words commonly used in yoga pay homage to Hindu deities.
- Metaphysical jargon. Phrases such as 'breathing in positive energy and breathing out negative energy', 'focusing on the third eye,' and 'getting in touch with the divinity within you' have New Age implications.
- Projection. Beware being told to empty your mind or to step outside your body.
- Feelings of discomfort. Pay attention to those feelings. Even if you can't pinpoint why you're uncomfortable, this may be the Holy Spirit's way of letting you know the class isn't for you.

A Slice of Life - The Four Wives
STORIES - The Four Wives Once upon a time, there was a king who had four wives. He loved the 4th wife the most and treated her to the finest things in life. He also loved the 3rd wife very much and was always showing her off to neighbouring kingdoms. He also loved his 2nd wife. She was his confidante and was always kind, considerate and patient with him. The King's 1st wife was a very loyal partner and had made great contributions in maintaining his wealth and kingdom. However, he did not love the 1st wife and although she loved him deeply, he hardly took notice of her. One day, the King fell ill and he knew his remaining time was short. He asked the 4th wife, "I have loved you the most and endowed you with the best. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?" "No way!" replied the 4th wife and she walked away without another word. The sad King then asked the 3rd wife, "I have loved you all my life. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?" "No!" replied the 3rd wife. "Life is too good! When you die, I'm going to remarry!" He then asked the 2nd wife, "You've always been there for me. When I die, will you follow me and keep me company?" "I'm sorry, I can't help you out this time!" replied the 2nd wife. "At the very most, I can only send you to your grave." Then a voice called out: "I'll follow you no matter where you go." The King looked up and there was his first wife. She was so skinny, she was suffering from malnutrition. Greatly grieved, the King said, "I should have taken much better care of you when I had the chance!" We all have four wives in our lives - our 4th wife is our body. No matter how much time and effort we lavish on it, it'll leave us when we die. Our 3rd wife is our possessions, status and wealth. When we die, it will all go to others. Our 2nd wife is our family and friends. No matter how much they have been there for us, the furthest they can stay by us is up to the grave. And our 1st wife is our Soul, often neglected in our pursuit of wealth, power and pleasures of the flesh. However, our Soul is the only thing that will follow us wherever we go. So cultivate, strengthen and cherish your soul. It's our only eternal companion. STORY BY UNKNOWN AUTHOR A Slice of Life is written, produced and presented by Eugene Loh unless otherwise stated. Thanksgiving
The characters of David and Paul in the Bible point us to the secret of their victories and breakthroughs. Leave all your daily battles to God (2 Chro 20:15).
Pay attention to the warning in 1 Cor 10:8-11. Jesus has promised us the abundant life only if we follow God's words in action.
Enjoy your life by thanksgiving today!

Racism
God created us in His image. Success has inflated Tommy's pride to the point that Psalm 10:3-7 seems an accurate fit for his inner being. Deut 32:25 reminds us the judgment will come to pass.
Dear Lord, thank you for positioning Oprah to defend your truth and righteousness in this dark world. May the shocking treatment before the 22 millions Oprah Winfrey viewers would send Tommy to repent and deflate his secular success and find Your peace and restoration. Our dear Holy Spirit, guard our tongue to encourage and strengthen people we meet each day, deflate our ego and pride for Your kingdom. In Jesus name, Amen
In The Valley
Thoughts are rambling on.
My mind wanders far astray.
What is going on?
I ask you here this day.
I know that you are with me,
just as you were before,
but what has happened to that zeal,
I once used to soar?
Other people are telling me,
You are heading in the right direction,
but why don't I feel this
wondrous comprehension?
Is it me, or is this normal?
Am I in the middle of a test?
Then Lord, reveal that to me,
that I may continue with the rest.
I am deep within the valley,
in desperate despair.
It is to you that I call,
to whom no one can compare.
Father I ask tonight
to set my spirit ablaze,
That everything I do
will become living light rays.
May my worship become free.
May my mind be refined,
that your glory will come forth
through this broken heart of mine.
Even though the circumstances
have not in anyway changed,
I am comforted by your mercy,
to which everything can be regained.
Thank you for that Lord,
for your everlasting grace.
I am still in the valley,
and yet illuminated by your face.

A belated gift, packed with a big promise inside
A young man was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted. As the Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car.
Finally, on the morning of his graduation, his father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man's name embossed in gold. Angrily, he raised his voice to his father and said, "With all your money you give me a Bible? and stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible.
Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things.
When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search through his father's important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. His father had
carefully underlined a verse:
Matt 7:11, "And if ye, being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Heavenly father which is in heaven, give to those who ask Him?"
As he read those words, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words...PAID IN FULL.
How many times do we miss God's blessings because they are not packaged as we expected? I trust you enjoyed this. Pass it on to others. Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for...
IF YOUR GIFT IS NOT PACKED THE WAY YOU WANT IT, IT'S BECAUSE IT IS BETTER PACKED THAT WAY! ALWAYS APPRECIATE LITTLE THINGS; THEY USUALLY LEAD YOU TO ATTACHMENTS!

The Law works
- Faith comes by hearing the Word of God; fear comes by hearing the word of the world
- Faith is acting on what you believe; fear is also acting on what you believe, negatively
- Faith is released by the words of your mouth; fear is also released by the words of your mouth
- God's word releases the force of faith to give you victory over every situation; speaking doubt releases the force of fear to work on creating the problem

Relationship - Family
God is the author of family. He created Eve to be Adam's suitable helper (Gen 2:18-20) and treated them as one united being (Gen 2:24). They had no sense of shame in nakedness before they ate the fruit of knowledge (Gen 2:25). However, they both felt the sense of shame after they ate the fruit of knowledge (Gen 3:6-7). The sin of the world entered their lives after the bite of the fruit, and thus we carry the same DNA today.
Since then, the man-kind lost the X-ray vision of God's. We struggle to make ends meat or worst, drowning in the seas of corporate achievements. God's is entertained to watch our lives in colour and stereo before His eyes, but many of our families struggle today in mono and silence. In God's eyes, is your family life a mono/silent or colour/hifi movie?
Dear Lord, You are the alpha and omega of our lives and faith. Restore our spiritual X-ray vision to worship You first in our lives. Touch our hearts to appreciate our family, we want our lives in full colour and stereo before You. I bind the scheme of the enemy in our families. Revive our passion for Your calling and restore our lives towards our destiny. In Jesus name, Amen

重生得救的黃鴻敏
黃鴻敏 (Raymond Wong from Hong Kong)

Servant-hood
Albert's extra effort seems so insignificant to most of us (we tend to have the relaxed "you will know what to order when you are there" attitude), but this brother's thoughtfulness truly touched my heart and reminds me of Eph 6:7 "Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men".
Dear Jesus, teaches us to serve others as if we are serving you. Amen.

Power of Resurrection in our Daily Life
Rom 8:11 highlights the Spirit is the key to empower us to win our daily battles.
When was the last time you experienced God's resurrection power over certain situation? How do we maintain the spiritual posture to have Him deal with the dead situations around us?
There are MANY Christians out there believing our intellectual mind is sufficient to deal with small matters at work (or home), and leave God/Jesus for big matters (or miracles).
Gal 6:8-11 highlights three areas we need to be careful: 1) we reap what we sow - we ACT upon what we THINK 2) wait on Him 3) love our neighbors, especially the kingdom family members.
1Th 5:8-9 says "Let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ." The truth behind Jesus' resurrection and the promise of our victorious life is available to us each day.
Receive the promise and resurrect the issues by casting your weary to Jesus today! Encourage a brother or sister in-Christ today.
Small Steps to Victories
Re-post from original article dated 24/11/2006
2 King 7:3-7 tells us how much God cared for His creation and delivered them in the midst of hopeless situation. God is the same today, if we take one baby step of faith and He will take a giant leap to deliver us even on the battleground.
Friends, get up and run to your destiny today! Your creator has so much for you, to glorify His name.
The Power of our BIG Mouth
Re-post from original article dated 22/11/2006
Isa 55:11 declares God's words will not achieve nothing when spoken.
Boomerang flies out in the air and return back to the thrower. God's word is the super spiritual boomerang in our lives. How often do we speak negatively upon the situations and people daily? The devil takes the advantage and work harder to make the situation and people dislike us more when our tongues unleash unkind thoughts. Without knowing, we often blame God for the disaster and the boomerang on our heads.
God SPOKE the words, the world was created. Jesus SPOKE and defeated the devil. What do we want to achieve with our mouths today?
God's Will
In John 21:15-19 Jesus reminded Peter's divine appointment: "Do you love me?", "Feed my lamb". "Do you truly love me?", "Take care of my sheep". "Do you love me?", "Feed my sheep. I tell you the truth, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go. Follow me!".
Dear Father, thank you for you relentless love for us. Help us today to rededicate and yield ourselves for your calling in the marketplace. Direct us to our destiny and grant us success today as you have promised us in Psa 91:14-16.
God's Timing
Re-post from original article dated 10/8/2006
Last night I was blessed to sit with a re-born Christian loaded with the world's financial burden & troubles. God reminded me of the "old me" on the other side of the table a few years back.
Phi 4:6 tells us "Do not be anxious about ANYTHING , but in EVERYTHING by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your request to God". Isa 54:1-17 reassures us with His promise "..No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tougue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord..declares the Lord".
How's your spiritual health on this subject? Psa 139:23-24 says "Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting"
Father, you know our anxious thoughts in all situations. Teach us today to walk in your truth and power, and we'll be still and know you are God.
God's Promises
Re-post from original article dated 3/8/2006
One important thought I brought home with, from the 1st Aug cell meeting, is the effect of FEAR hindering our success in our lives.
God is constantly assuring us His protection and love in Isa 35:4, 41:10, 57:11-13, Jer 30:10-11, Mal 3:5. Spirit of fear is one of our biggest strongholds at the starting line of our kingdom race.
Faith is the foundation to trust Him, the Holy Spirit will lead us to the finishing line - we all are the chosen winners by His definition.
Stop being a hostage today and start enjoying His promises.
God's Love
Re-post, original article dated 29/6/2006
Brother Victor carried a great message on Tue night and is equally applicable to every men in the market place.
Psalm 23:4 says "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
Jesus taken up all our sins upon the cross - all condemnations and guilts. God wants us to focus on Him, and promised to be with us even when we are walking THROUGH the darkness (in our daily challenges at work or family), before we take up the feast He has prepared for us before the enemy.
Roman 8:37 reads "..we are more than conquerors through him who loved us." A timely reminder for those trapped in our daily affairs that Jesus wants us to succeed in every situation. Cast your problems into His hands and run to the table!!
Thank you Bro Victor for your obedience and the relevation that is directing me to the right place. PTL!
